Stacey Ishman, MD, MPH, FAAP, FACS is a Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and Sleep Medicine, and Medical Director of Utilization Management for the Healthvine health network at the University of Cincinnati/Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She is also the Associate Medical Director for Specialty Engagement for the Physician Hospital Association, Tri-State Health Services and the current President of the International Surgical Sleep Society.
Dr. Ishman earned her medical degree from Rush Medical College and completed a residency in Otolaryngology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She then completed a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Johns Hopkins and underwent advanced sleep training as a member of the faculty from 2005 through 2013. She obtained her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, is board certified in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and Sleep Medicine.
After founding the Center for Snoring and Sleep Surgery to treat adults with OSA at Johns Hopkins Hospital, she joined Cincinnati Children’s and the University of Cincinnati in 2013. Her clinical practices focus on the management of children with infant and persistent OSA as well as adults with OSA. She also served the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery as Chair of the Board of Governors, as a member of the Board of Directors, and as Chair of the General Otolaryngology and Sleep Education Committee.
She has authored over 200 original research papers, 20 book chapters, and co-edited the newly published book entitled Essential Sleep Medicine. She is involved in multiple clinical trials focused on the care of children and adults with obstructive sleep apnea. She is also an invited lecturer nationally and internationally in the areas of pediatric and adult sleep and sleep surgery.
