Maggie Barilka, CCC-SLP currently serves as an Associate in Clinical Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Columbia University Medical Center. She is a Speech-Language Pathologist and Swallow Specialist at the Voice and Swallowing Institute. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders across the lifespan. Her clinical and research interests lie in the areas of head and neck cancer, complex dysphagia management and post-stroke dysphagia rehabilitation. She actively participates in clinical research initiatives, and has presented at national meetings on the treatment and clinical management of dysphagia in individuals who have co-occurring motor speech disorders. Ms.Barilka holds a Bachelors of Science from the University of Virginia and a Masters of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Teachers College, Columbia University. She completed her clinical fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Health Voice and Swallowing Clinics, specializing in swallowing disorders and communication-cognition in the inpatient setting. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She is a firm believer in patient-provider collaboration, and development of treatment plans that utilize evidence-based practice in conjunction with patient wishes and goals.
