Heather J. Smith, BMus

Heather Smith, BM, is a fourth year medical student at the University of Utah School of Medicine, where she recently completed a year-long research fellowship with the Department of Otolaryngology. Her research interests include cochlear implantation, single-sided deafness, and vestibular schwannoma. She earned a Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance from the Eastman School of Music and worked as a professional cellist prior to medical school. She serves as co-founder and president of the Utah Medical Orchestra, co-director of the Fourth Street Student-Led Clinic, and a tutor for the school of medicine. She is applying for otolaryngology residency this fall.
