Devyani Lal, M.D. is Professor of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery and Chair, Division of Rhinology, Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Dr. Lal is Dean of Education, Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Dr. Lal is the 2019 Charles H. Mayo Distinguished Clinician. She serves on the Executive Operations Team for Mayo Clinic in Arizona. She has joint appointment in Neurological Surgery and at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Lal’s focuses on management of inflammatory and neoplastic conditions of the sinonasal cavity and cranial base. She has over 150 scientific publications in Rhinology-Cranial Base Surgery. She is lead author and co-editor of the book, “Frontal Sinus Surgery” (Springer). Dr. Lal is Associate Editor, Cumming’s Otolaryngology Head -Neck Surgery, 8th Edition. Dr. Lal is director of ten Rhinology & Cranial Base courses held at Mayo Clinicery and Faculty Development courses.
Dr. Lal is the Committee Chair-Elect of the Rhinology & Allergy Education Committee, American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS) and Consultant to the Rhinology and Paranasal Sinus Committee, AAO-HNS. She is Chair-Elect of the American Rhinologic Society Women in Rhinology section. She is the President of the Association of American Otolaryngologists of Indian Heritage.
Dr. Lal serves on the editorial board of the “International Forum for Allergy and Rhinology” and “Contemporary Neurosurgery” and is an Associate Editor for the American Journal for Rhinology and Allergy.
Dr. Lal attended Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi, India, followed by residencies at the University of Delhi, India. She underwent fellowship training at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital, London, UK. After moving to the United States, she underwent residency training in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at Loyola University, IL, a research fellowship at University of Chicago, and fellowship in Rhinology and Endoscopic Cranial Base Surgery at Stanford University.
