Assistant Professor
Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
Brooklyn, NY, United States
I am an Assistant Professor in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery, Neurosurgery, Artificial Intelligence, and Emerging Technologies at Mount Sinai. I also serve as the Director of the Endoscopic Skull Base Program and the Director of Research within the Division of Rhinology.
As a faculty member, I have been actively involved in publishing traditional research and have served as the Principal Investigator on multiple investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials. I have published approximately 100 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and have completed over 15 clinical trials. My research focus has been in endoscopic skull base surgery, with a specific emphasis on technology, including neurostimulation and augmented reality. Additionally, I have mentored over 14 research fellows who have received funding for 1-year research fellowships within our department.
I have been highly engaged in the innovation space, particularly in developing and advancing technology for use in neurosurgical and ENT fields. I have collaborated extensively with Sinai Biodesign on device design. In 2019, I developed a surgical aspiration device, which led to the creation of a startup called Pharyvac, for which I serve as a founder and CMO. We have secured funding from the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering grant award in the 2024 Grant Cycleas well as Investment from the biotech Venture Capital group NMW Ventures (Paris, France). Furthermore, I have provided mentoring to several startup companies in the device space through collaboration with Mount Sinai Innovation Partners and Biodesign, supporting their efforts to commercialize their technologies.
