Dr. Chiossone obtained his MD degree from the Central University of Venezuela, followed by completing residencies in General Surgery and subsequently Otorhinolaryngology at the University Hospital of Caracas within the Central University of Venezuela. He was honored as the second Fellow in Venezuela to receive the prestigious "José María Vargas" Perpetuity Scholarship at Darwin College, University of Cambridge, England. As a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Addenbrooke's Hospital NHS - Cambridge University Hospital, he specialized in neurotological and skull base surgery under the guidance of Professors David Moffat and David Hardy. Upon returning to Venezuela, he assumed a professorship position in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology Clinic at the Central University of Venezuela, where he established the first hearing implant program within a public health system. His contributions extended to serving as Vice President of the Venezuelan Otology Foundation and overseeing a cochlear implant program that benefitted over 1,200 patients.
His professional engagements have encompassed participation in various surgical missions across continents including the Americas, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. He have led and organized and extensive number of surgical training sessions and courses focusing on temporal bone anatomy. In 2019, he was invited to join the ENT Department at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. In addition to his clinical and surgical responsibilities there, he hold the position of Director at the Cranial Access Neuroanatomy & ENT Surgical Laboratory (CANES LAB). Noteworthy is that this laboratory stands out by offering courses exclusively conducted in Spanish within U.S. territory.
His current research interests revolve around integrating innovative technologies into neurotological surgery practices and developing methodologies for assessing surgical competencies among trainee surgeons.
