Marika Russell, MD FACS is Assisstant Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at Harvard Medical School/Mass Eye and Ear. She obtained her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed her residency training at the University of California, San Francisco, and completed her fellowship training in Thyroid and Parathyroid Surgery at Mass Eye and Ear/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Russell has special expertise in thyroid and neck ultrasound and is a national leader in ultrasound education. She serves as the Vice-Chair for the American Head and Neck Society – Endocrine Section and is an associate Board Member for the World Congress on Thyroid Cancer.
Dr. Russell’s clinical interests include application of ultrasound to the diagnosis and management of thyroid and parathyroid conditions, radiofrequency ablation of thyroid nodules, and treatment of advanced thyroid cancer. Her research interests include treatment outcomes in advanced thyroid cancer and management of the recurrent laryngeal nerve, as well as application of new technologies to treatment of thyroid and parathyroid diseases. Dr. Russell has a passion for providing patient-centered care and a special interest in studying Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs).
