Dr. Zion Ben Gvili, MD, PGY-6 Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery resident at Chaim Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, Israel, was born on March 22, 1988, in Israel. He is married to Elia, and they have three daughters.
Dr. Gvili pursued medical studies at the University of Debrecen in Hungary and later completed his Medical Doctor degree at Bar-Ilan University Faculty of Medicine in the Galilee, Israel, in 2017. His journey in the medical field began in the Israeli Defense Forces, where he served as a medic in the elite 669 Airborne Rescue and Evacuation Unit.
His dedication to continuous learning is evident through his various further studies and certifications, including temporal bone dissection, endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery, and the management of dizziness and vertigo. Dr. Gvili has also presented research at several conferences in Israel, including his work on decompression surgery for traumatic facial nerve paralysis at the Annual Meeting of The Israeli Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, and on pembrolizumab treatment in advanced oral squamous cell carcinoma at the Annual Conference of the Israeli Society of Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology (ISHNOS).
In addition to his clinical and research endeavors, Dr. Gvili is passionate about education. He has been a tutor for medical students at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University, Israel, and a lecturer at the nursing school of Chaim Sheba Medical Center and Tel Aviv University. He also teaches the ENT course for speech therapy BA students at Ono Academic College in Israel.
