Erica R. Thaler, MD is a Professor of Otorhinolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Princeton University (AB, Politics 1986), Harvard Medical School (MD, 1990), and competed her Otorhinolaryngology residency at the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Since then, she has been on faculty at Penn as a General Otolaryngologist. She is the Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs and Director of the Division of General Otolaryngology. In the clinical arena, she focuses on the medical and surgical management of chronic sinusitis, thyroid and parathyroid disorders, and surgical management of sleep apnea, including robotic surgery and hypoglossal nerve stimulation. She has done pioneering research in the clinical utility of electronic nose technology, and surgical innovation with the robot for treatment of severe obstructive sleep apnea.
