Charles Meyer, MD is a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, Medical Corps and is currently stationed at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth Virginia. He is a board-certified Otolaryngologist and fellowship trained in Advanced Head and Neck Surgery.
He attended the United States Naval Academy, was commissioned as an Ensign and selected for the Nuclear Surface Warfare community. He served aboard USS JAMES E. WILLIAMS (DDG 95), where he served with distinction and was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He then attended the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command, graduated with honors, and was awarded the Commanding Officer's Personal Excellence Award. Following graduation, he was then assigned to the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71).
In 2012, he transferred to the US Navy Medical Corps and attended the Uniformed Services University, where he was awarded membership in AOA and graduated with Honors. He was selected for Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery Internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (2017).
Following Internship, he was stationed aboard USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD 17) as the Senior Medical Officer, returning to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in 2018 to complete Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery Residency.
After residency, he completed fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstruction at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School. He graduated with distinction and received the prestigious Resident Teaching Award for his contributions to the Harvard Otolaryngology Residency Training program.
Dr. Meyer is currently Core Academic Faculty and Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Department of Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery, where he also serves as the Assistant Program Director. He is the Chair of the Robotic Surgery Committee and the Vice Chair of the Credentialing Review Committee.
