Rizwan Aslam, DO, MSMEd, MBA, MPH, FACS Associate Professor of Otolaryngology, Neurosurgery, and Plastic Surgery - Tulane University School of Medicine. Adjunct Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery, LSU Division of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Rizwan Aslam is a fellowship trained Head and Neck oncology surgeon, and is a specialist in the surgical treatment of diseases of the head and neck including cancers of the mouth, tongue and throat (larynx), pharynx, and benign and malignant salivary gland tumors. He is also specializes in airway reconstruction and microvascular reconstruction of the head and neck, and conducts research into advanced surgical techniques for head and neck diseases.
Dr. Aslam attended the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his General Surgery Internship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Otolaryngology Residency at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a Head and Neck Oncology – Microvascular Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of Cincinnati – College of Medicine. He is board-certified and is an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and the American Head and Neck Society, and participates in a community-wide outreach effort to raise awareness of oral cancers.
Dr. Aslam has been a primary and collaborative investigator in multiple research projects related to the clinical and surgical treatment of head and neck diseases and has made presentations and authored abstracts and articles related to head and neck radiology, pharyngoesophageal injuries, human papilloma virus and the link to head and neck cancer, and surgical management of thyroid disease. Dr. Aslam completed a Masters of Science in Medical Education, Master of Business Administration, and Master of Public Health. he is the Program Director of the Otolaryngology residency program at Tulane University.
