PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Publication and promotion of research can be time consuming, confusing and even frustrating. This panel aims to streamline the process and to increase your success in peer review publication. The Editor-in-Chief will provide an overview of the peer review process, highlighting common pitfalls which lead to manuscript rejection. The discussion will include the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The Deputy Editor will give a brief overview of medical statistics as well as resources to become a better researcher and reviewer. Our Editorial Office Lead will provide a behind the scenes look at what transpires following submission. In doing so she will share pearls to expedite the time to manuscript disposition. Lastly, the AAO-HNS/F Senior Director of Communications will provide an overview of opportunities to showcase your work from publications and podcasts to social media. This comprehensive panel is geared towards attendees of all levels: from medical students and resident new to research and publication to the seasoned attendee looking to become a stronger scientific writer and reviewer. Ultimately it will maximize your research success by streamlining the publication process and highlighting opportunities to showcase your outstanding work.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify common pitfalls which lead to manuscript rejection.
  2. Simplify and review the most common medical statistic methods required for successful peer review and publication.
  3. Highlight AAO-HNS/F resources for promotion of your research to include publications, podcasts and social media.
