PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Physician reimbursement is being eroded by many economic and political forces beyond our control. Physician income, practice stability, service line viability, and institutional solvency all depend on revenue. As costs rise and reimbursement falls, it is ever more important to pay attention to the details of how we as physicians get paid.
This panel will discuss best practices, pearls and pitfalls, and strategies to make sure your practice gets paid all it is due. Many of these strategies are simple and inexpensive to implement. Among our topics we will discuss the use of scribes, audiology assistants, new and cheaper technology, AI, GPOs, a focus on employee wellbeing and retention, claim scrubbing, efficient prior authorizations, dashboards for measuring clinic efficiencies, streamlining electronic medical records to support claims, as well as several novel approaches to optimizing ENT related service lines.
Panelists include entrepreneurs, experienced clinicians, managing partners, and younger clinicians with novel approaches to enhancing reimbursement.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Become familiar with numerous economic, political, and medico-legal currents that affect physician reimbursement in the United States.
  2. Discuss additions and changes to your practice that improve practice efficiency, promote improved documentation and accurate coding, reduce costs to the practice, and implement novel technologies to improve and track reimbursement trends.
  3. Examine options to better understand and measure changes in the revenue cycle, claims handling, and payment accuracy to improve reimbursement.
