Sujana S. Chandrasekhar, MD is a Partner at ENT & Allergy Associates, LLP. She is Past President and Past Chair, BOG, AAO-HNS/F. She is Past President of the American Otological Society. Dr. Chandrasekhar is Consulting Editor of Otolaryngologic Clinics of North America, Director of Neurotology at Bronx JJP VA Medical Center, Past Eastern Section VP and current Combined Sections Meeting Program Director of the Triological Society, Co-creator and Co-Host of She's On Call (YT/FB/Twitter), Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology, Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra-Northwell.
She is an otologist/neurotologist with a passion for ear and balance patient care, surgery and teaching, humanitarian work, and leadership/empowerment of others. She practices in New York City and Parsippany, NJ.
She attended medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, OTO-HNS residency at NYU Medical Center, and fellowship in Otology and Neurotology at House Ear, Los Angeles, CA.
Her scientific interests include hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo, temporal bone histopathology, and gender research in otolaryngology. She has several publications in otology/neurotology and otolaryngology, including a landmark paper on sudden hearing loss. Book: Temporal Bone Histology and Radiology Atlas - 2018. AAO-HNS/F CPGs: Sudden Hearing Loss, Thyroidectomy: Improving Voice Outcomes, Tinnitus, Adult Sinusitis. ECS: ET Balloon Dilatation. Research on intranasal surfactant for otitis media and Eustachian tube dysfunction.
Sujana was named a Living Legend by AAO-HNS (2022) and received: AAO-HNS Presidential Citation (2023), Distinguished Service Award, 2006 and 2012; Helen Krause Trailblazer Award from AAO-HNS WIOS, 2012; Physician Mentor Recognition Award, American Medical Association Women Physicians Section, 2013, Triological Society Presidential and Vice Presidential Citations; and the Dr. Mary Edwards Walker Inspiring Women in Surgery Award , American College of Surgeons (2023).
She has participated in medical/surgical missions to Nicaragua and given numerous lectures worldwide on otology/neurotology and leadership.
She is married with four children.
