A graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Dr. Li completed his internship at Pennsylvania Hospital and his residency in otolaryngology at Loyola University Medical Center and Hines Veterans Administration Hospital. Dedicated experience in ear surgery was obtained at the Alaskan Native Medical Center in Anchorage Alaska, where chronic ear disease is prevalent. Dr. Li also participated in the Visiting Doctors Program at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, California. After graduation, he spent time visiting with, and learning from many prominent neurotologists.
Dr. Li is active in the academic side of otology and neurotology. He has authored or co-authored several chapters in ENT textbooks and several manuscripts in the medical literature. Dr. Li instructs the Secrets of Canalith Repositioning course at the AAO. He has been an instructor at the dizziness and balance courses sponsored by the American Neurotologic Society. He has been invited to teach at many ear surgery and vertigo courses throughout the country as well as internationally including a Temporal Bone lab for ICOT.
Dr. Li loves gadgets and inventions. In order to treat certain types of vertigo, he, together with his welding friends, put together the multiaxial positioning device which facilitates CRP with 360 rotation. He also patented “Swaymeter”, a balance forceplate used to rehab patients with imbalance.
Along with the Anspach Corporation (now Synthes), Dr. Li co-developed a surgical drill that is used for otology. It has become widely popular for neurotology.
In 2010, Dr. Li was selected to be one of 10 US sites to perform the Envoy Esteem totally implantable hearing device. Dr. Li joined the Air Force in 2018 as a reservist flight surgeon in the 122nd F-15 Fighter Squadron of the Air National Guard.
