PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Simulation-based education has been increasingly recognized as an integral part of keeping the medical team prepared to successfully manage high-stakes, low-frequency events. In the past, most simulation efforts have been applied to hospital-based or other inpatient care environments; emergencies, however, happen everywhere. This session will focus on bringing the power of simulation to the office. Audience members will participate in live sim of clinic catastrophes, will learn how to set up and run effective simulation scenarios in the office and surgery center, and will gain experience with educational debriefing and staff engagement after scenarios are complete.

Learning Objectives:

Recognize and manage simulated office-based emergencies.
Identify high-stakes, low-frequency events with reasonable possibility of occurrence in your practice and understand how to implement simulation-based learning to better prepare your staff to handle these events.
Demonstrate effective debriefing and crisis management teaching skills in a small group setting.
