Karen Y. Choi, MD is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. She completed her otolaryngology residency training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, followed by an advanced head and neck surgical oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Her clinical interests focus primarily on mucosal malignancies of the upper aerodigestive tract with a focus on oral cavity carcinoma and high-risk cutaneous malignancies. She manages the breadth of head and neck surgical oncology including salivary malignancies, endocrine surgery, and sarcomas of the head and neck and incorporates transoral robotic surgery and sentinel lymph node biopsy in her practice. As a former public school teacher, she is passionate about medical education and was awarded the Dean’s Excellence in Teaching award at Penn State in 2022. Her research interests focus on surgical and quality of life outcomes for patients treated for head and neck cancer.
