Dr.Patravoot Vatanaspat is an associate professor in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, Thailand. He has previously led the department as its chairman. He is currently the chief of the head and neck surgery division. He has also served as the chairman of the cancer registry unit of Srinagarind Hospital, overseeing both hospital-based and population-based cancer registries for the past five years. He initiated the surgical skill training program for otolaryngologists using fresh-frozen cadaver at Khon Kaen University, and now the Director of the ASEAN Head and Neck Dissection Course organized to support training of the head and neck surgery in Southeast Asia.
His researches focus on the epidemiology of head and neck cancer, and carcinogenesis of HPV&EBV related cancers. He was part of the working group for the IARC Handbook Volume 19: Oral Cancer Prevention.
In the realm of professional leadership, Dr. Patravoot has held several significant positions, including President of the Asian Society of Head and Neck Oncology (ASHNO), Coordinator of the ASEAN Head & Neck Network, a member of the Council and Executive Committee of the Asia-Pacific Society of Thyroid Surgery, and an advisor on the advisory board of the Royal College of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery of Thailand, and Past President of the Thai Society of Head and Neck Oncology (TSHNO).
