A native of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Brian A. Moore, MD, FACS, earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and Doctor of Medicine degrees from Tulane University. After finishing a residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at Vanderbilt University, he completed a fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology and reconstruction at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Moore served the United States Air Force as Chief of Surgery at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel then joined Ochsner Medical Center in 2011 to build a multidisciplinary head and neck team. Dr. Moore led the Department of Otorhinolaryngology and Communication Sciences as System Chair from 2015 until 2022, guiding the department through a period of significant growth and continuing the department’s legacy of excellence reflected in its regular listing among the Top 50 ENT programs by U.S. News and World Report.
From 2017 through 2023, Dr. Moore served as the Director of the Ochsner Cancer Institute, where he was instrumental in the establishment of the Ochsner MD Anderson Cancer Center. In January 2024, Dr. Moore was promoted to Regional Medical Director, New Orleans region, where he is focused on continued growth of the Group Practice and the strategic evolution of Ochsner’s destination, academic, and value-based programs across multiple campuses. His publications, textbook, book chapters, and invited articles focus on advanced cutaneous malignancy, functional results, and quality outcomes of contemporary head and neck cancer treatment. Dr. Moore is a member of multiple professional societies and has held several national offices. He represented the AHNS on the Commission on Cancer and helped establish the first national quality measure for head and neck cancer care. Dr. Moore remains active clinically, with a surgical practice focused on advanced cutaneous malignancy, thyroid cancer, and parathyroid disease.
