My clinical practice involves the diagnosis and treatment of laryngological disease including in-office procedures, dysphahia, professional voice, aging voice, and multidisciplinary laryngological care. I am a clinician-research with a particular interest in the intersection of voice and swallowing disorders. I am the director of the voice, swallowing and airway program and supervisor for the outpatient clinical speech language. We collected and designed a prospective database for all laryngology patients presenting to our tertiary care center at the University of Cincinnati (>5000 patients since 2014). My particular research focus includes health-related outcomes. I am Primary Investigator for the first and largest dysphagia collaborative entitled Prospective Outcomes of Cricopharyngeaus Hypertonicity (POuCH) a multi-center database with >500 patients initiated in 2016. For this work, I was awarded the Triological Society Research Career Development Award on “Dysphagia Outcomes after Zenker’s Diverticulectomy” in 2019. I enjoy the collaborative research environments in biomedical, aerospace, mechanical engineering, voice science, voice and swallow pathology, and basic science locoregionally, nationally, and internationally.
