Mark Nyaeme is a fourth-year medical student at Carle Illinois College of Medicine at the University of Illinois - Urbana Champaign and has received his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is pursuing a career in otolaryngology. His interests within the industry include device design, healthcare accessibility, medical education, and healthcare systems engineering.
Mark is currently working on using computational modeling to further understand nasal physiology and nasal cycling. His previous work included utilizing geospatial analysis to analyze accessibility of healthcare, particularly in the field of otolaryngology, as well as, using technology to improve intraoperative surgical efficiency for head and neck procedures. In the past, he worked on multiple projects in minimally invasive device design and peripheral nerve stimulation, along with material engineering research. He is excited to continue to apply his engineering background and research experience to further advance the field of otolaryngology. His hobbies include photography, writing poetry, hiking/mountaineering, and building computers and robots.
