Jose P. Zevallos MD MPH is the Eugene N. Myers, M.D. Chairman of Otolaryngology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Prior to this position, he served as Division Chief of Head and Neck Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine and the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Zevallos is a nationally and internationally recognized expert on the epidemiology and genomics of HPV-associated oropharyngeal cancer. His clinical practice includes the full depth and breadth of head and neck surgical oncology, with a special emphasis on transoral robotic surgery and complex thyroid surgery. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Zevallos runs a translational research laboratory at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and is the PI of a clinical trial focused on treatment deintensification for HPV+ oropharyngeal cancer. He has published more that 120 peer-review articles on topics in head and neck cancer and is a frequently invited visiting professor and speaker throughout the United States, Europe, and Latin America.
