Justin Turner MD, PhD is Professor and Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a graduate of the NIH Medical Scientist Training Program at the Medical University of South Carolina and completed residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery at Stanford University before joining the faculty at Vanderbilt Unviversity in 2012. His clinical practice focuses on rhinologic diseases and treatment of sinonasal and skull base tumors. He is actively involved in rhinologic basic and translational research and is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health. Current areas of research include the role of inflammation in human olfactory dysfunction and medical and surgical outcomes in chronic rhinosinusitis. After eleven years at Vanderbilt, Dr. Turner was recruited to UAB as Department Chair and holder of the John S. Odess Chair in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
