Carol Yan MD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of California San Diego. She is a graduate of UPenn Perlman School of Medicine during which she completed the NIH-HHMI Research Scholars Program at the NIH. She graduated Otolaryngology residency from University of Pennsylvania and completed a Rhinology and Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery fellowship at Stanford University. She joined the faculty at University of California San Diego in 2019. Dr. Yan is actively involved in both clinical and translational research focusing on the diagnosis and mechanisms of human olfactory dysfunction and the clinical outcomes and patient compliance in chronic rhinosinusitis. She receives funding from the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) at the NIH. Her clinical practice encompasses the spectrum of rhinologic diseases, olfactory disorders, and sinonasal and skull base tumors.
