Dr. Gregory Dion is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and Laryngologist at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Vice-Chair of Research, and the Medical Director of Airway Management - ICU at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. After earning engineering degrees from Northeastern University and then the University of Arizona, he earned his M.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed his residency at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium / Brooke Army Medical Center, followed by a Laryngology Fellowship at New York University. Dr. Dion has received numerous honors, including awards from the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery and the American Laryngological Association. He has secured research funding from several agencies, notably from the NIH and Defense Health Agency, and has authored over 80 peer-reviewed publications, written book chapters, and done podcasts and other media related to this research. These research activities span basic science and ex-vivo testing to translational research and clinical studies with a particular emphasis on biomechanical characterization, novel therapeutic delivery approaches, and complex airway reconstruction in addition to dysphagia research related to diagnostics and upper esophageal sphincter management. This work has led to numerous podium presentations at national and international conferences as well as regional and national invited lectureships and professorships. Dr. Dion is actively involved in professional societies and community activities, and he is dedicated to mentoring aspiring medical professionals and engineering students.
