Gene Brown, MD is an otolaryngologist at Charleston ENT & Allergy in Charleston, SC. He also serves the 30-physician practice as its CEO and President. Dr. Brown is committed to patient care and is also very active as a physician advocate. These joint passions are what led to the creation of a regional organization, OASIS, which was formed under Dr. Brown's leadership to provide support and a network for otolaryngologists. Physician advocacy led him to leadership at the state level as President of his state Otolaryngology Society for four years. His commitment to protecting and advancing the specialty guided him into physician leadership within the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery where he has served in numerous leadership roles at the AAO-HNS including the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Physician Payment Policy (3P) Workgroup, and the Financial and Investment Sub-Committee. He has shaped Academy policy by participating in the last two strategic planning sessions and serving on the Search Committee for the Academy’s next EVP/CEO. Most recently he was elected President-Elect of the AAO-HNS, and he is most excited about his opportunity to further support the specialty from this platform.
