Timothy L. Smith, MD, MPH, FACS is professor and interim chair of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery in the School of Medicine at Oregon Health and Science University. He received his medical education at the University of Cincinnati and completed residency training in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of North Carolina and fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He served on the faculty at Vanderbilt and the Medical College of Wisconsin prior to joining the faculty of OHSU in 2005. Dr. Smith's primary clinical interest is in surgery of the sinuses and skull base. He has served as the Principal Investigator of a multi-institutional study of outcomes of sinus surgery funded by the National Institutes of Health resulting in funding for over 15 years. Dr. Smith is a Past President of the American Rhinologic Society and has been elected to the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and is currently a director on the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He has previously served as an Associate Editor of the International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology and JAMA Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery prior to being appointed Editor in Chief of the International Forum of Allergy & Rhinology.
