PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Tinnitus is one of the most common presenting complaints to otolaryngologists. Oftentimes in the past, patients were told that there is nothing to do to help their tinnitus. In this presentation, we will review novel methods of treatment for tinnitus with attention to particular subpopulations. We will discuss various devices on the in the United States and the latest results of their studies. Additionally, we will discuss internet-based therapies, including sound therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and telemedicine treatment. We will also discuss the new understanding of the relationship between atypical migraine activation and tinnitus perception with emphasis on management techniques for this population. Treatment of tinnitus in the population suffering from hyperacusis will also be discussed. Finally, we will discuss emerging therapies. Cases will be presented for the most common presentation types of tinnitus to familiarize the audience with the latest treatment approaches available to patients. Our panel aims to provide information relevant to the comprehensive and subspecialty otolaryngologist, advanced practice provider, and otolaryngologist in-training, on which patients would benefit the most from the various therapeutic options.

Describe various types of tinnitus and understand how to recognize the various subtypes.
Identify the approach to the various subpopulations of tinnitus and describe different management in these cases.
